Schertz and Cibolo are not on SAWS — and the hardness is a little different.
Both cities run their own water systems drawn from the Edwards aquifer and Carrizo supply through the Schertz-Seguin Local Government Corporation. It is hard water, the subdivisions are nearly all pre-plumbed, and the install is usually straightforward. Quoted over the phone.

Municipal supply here is a blend, and hardness varies by the season and by which source is running — generally mid-teens to low-20s grains per gallon. Homes built after roughly 2005 in Cibolo and Schertz almost always have a softener loop in the garage, which keeps the job inside the published range.
